Although the United States government has taken some steps to curb the growth of Internet-based gambling, the country’s legality in this arena remains unresolved. Several bills have been introduced to soften the federal gambling law. One of these, the Skill Game Protection Act, would clarify the Wire Act to exclude some gambling games from the list.

Some states have also passed legislation to legalize Internet wagering. Among these is the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which is responsible for licensing and regulating online gambling businesses. Other states, such as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana, offer limited online gambling services.

In addition to these legalized states, there are also several other nations in the Caribbean and North America that allow Internet-based wagering. France, for example, proposed new laws to regulate the Internet gambling industry. Nonetheless, the Department of Justice is considering whether or not it will extend its authority to regulate the Internet.

There are also a number of organizations that provide support and counselling for those who have been affected by gambling. Moreover, some states have enacted laws that make it illegal to gamble on Native American lands.
